Besides drawing technical sketches,
my tasks in the Company include fitting, measuring the garments, giving
comments to suppliers and just basically helping out with everyday work.
This morning was unusual because it started
with everyone having to build their own chair! The Company ordered new chairs
so everyone could sit properly during the long working hours. I was sitting at
the floor with co-workers from different departments: IT-service, Merchanising,
Social Management… The IKEA chairs come with instructions, of course, so it was
pretty easy and actually a lot of fun! These kinds of „activities“ really bring
to some special bonding between the colleagues.
Everyone is very hard working in
Company. They start working before 7:30 am and leave after 7:30 in the evening.
However, the energy is very friendly and homey. There is a lunch room where
everyone eats together. Sometimes even some brainstorm meetings are held there
during having lunch. We also have a dog in Company, and often there is one
little girl (a colleague's pet and another colleague's daughter), so they are
running around chasing each other. There is even one colleague who never wears
shoes. It is so cool - feels like working in a living room!
I think social life in a company is
very important for success. It's like in a theatre play – if the vibe between the
coworkers is positive on the backstage, the audience is going to feel it on the
stage. There is no way to fake it. Recently I participated my first Swedish
business meeting in my Company. I couldn't understand a lot – I was the only
one not speaking Swedish, and I was too shy to ask them to switch to English (I
know, it is stupid). However, I could concentrate more on their body language.
They coworkers always listen patiently to each suggestion. Everyone feels
confident about showing their ideas. The Boss allows everyone to speak their
mind, and he never raises his voice. They are serious about the work-talk, but
still they make some jokes and laugh.
It is so nice to read all of our
entries and to know you are all doing well and learning so much.
