Second Blogpost: Production Intern at House of Dagmar

 Hi everyone,

I hope you are all doing well at your internships! I’m now 10 weeks into my internship at House of Dagmar, and it’s been an incredibly valuable experience so far.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of the full production process and how the organisation works with everything from planning, coordination, sourcing, logistics, communication and checking up on quality in the entire process from product development to finished product.

I’ve assisted with managing production timelines, communicating with suppliers in different countries across the globe. I’ve also taken part in both internal and external meetings, fittings and quality checks, and helped report and communicate improvements. On the administrative side, I’ve worked on updating production documents and organizing reports. What’s been most rewarding is seeing how all the different processes fit together and how such a small company works together. This has helped me understand the full flow of production and how crucial coordination is at every step.

I’ve learned so much over the past 10 weeks, and while I still have a few weeks left, the recent weeks have been quite intense with a lot going on. I’m hoping the final weeks will be a bit less stressful, but just as rewarding.

All the best,
Clara Fogdestam

Individual Field Study 2025, 1/3

 Hi, all!

I am a bit late in sharing my journey of the field study as a part of individual field study. In this individual field study I choose to do the literature review on a selected topic. We had a session with our teacher and mentor Jenny at every week who guides us to this journey.

The preliminary job of the literature review is to select a topic in which I have an interest. In the first two sessions, Jenny helped us know more about the systematic literature review, topic selection, search engine selection, selecting, deselecting and how to categorize the list of articles. After brainstorming for some days, I chose Supply Chain Transparency as my subject for the literature review. I want to know what has been done in these topics by the scholars and what the gaps are that can be further explored. I choose the search engine "Scopus" to search the scholarly articles for my topics.

In the third and fourth week, I started to read the articles that I chose and started to make an Excel sheet where I could categorize the articles under different specific columns for further easy understanding. Jenny guided us through this preparation and pointed out what to look for while reading a journal articles. It really helped me to understand the articles more clearly and sort out the relevant articles.

Then I started to write my report and now I am on the to write the second draft. The feedback session from the first draft makes clear my confusion about the how to write in maintaining the golden thread and with structure. Now I am approaching to the second draft with refining and modify the 1st draft.

It was nice learning phase so far in this individual study. I have learned a lot about the literature review and extended my skills in the scientific journal analysis area. I hope these skills will aid my future goals.

Thats all for today. Have a nice day and I promise I will not be late for my second post!!

Production HW Intern 2/3

 Good morning all of you!

Time flies by so quickly, I am now currently in my 8th week at the internship. Meaning that it is slowly coming to an end. When thinking about what I have learnt it is difficult to remember because of how much that I have done. Not only have I started an internship in a new company with a new team, I have also moved from Gothenburg to Stockholm, which has been really great but yet a challenge of course.

These weeks has been filled with meetings with suppliers, production planning and onboarding of a new colleague to the team! I have also begun to gain more responsibility and I feel more confident in my work-tasks.

Last week ended with a two-day trek. I was invited to join some people in the office for an afterwork experience. I borrowed gear from colleagues and the office and off we went. We walked through the woods north of Stockholm, paused for dinner and then continued to a camping-spot where we pitched our tents, lit a bonfire and just looked over Mälaren. I got to spend my first ever night in a tent which was a real adventure. I feel like I am getting the full Fjällräven experience during my internship here!

However, it is nice to read all of your blogs and see that you are doing good so far!

Take care,

Beatrice Svedberg

Menswear startup internship - 1/3

31 March – 14 April

The first two weeks of my internship have flown by, and I’m now starting to get into the flow of things. The first week was especially intense, filled with new impressions and plenty to learn. Much of my time was spent getting to know the company’s workflow and internal processes. I had the opportunity to follow each of the employees considering they are still a small team (4 people). During my second week, the company launched their SS25 collection. It was an exciting and hectic time, with high demand and lots of preparations to ensure customer orders were fulfilled smoothly. As the company operates exclusively online, a significant part of the work involved updating the website. This included adding new products, refreshing cover photos, handling currency conversions and maintaining a dialogue with the IT consultant to resolve any technical issues or necessary adjustments.

On the operational side, I assisted with quality checks of the garments, ensuring everything met the company’s standards before packing and shipping. After the launch, the whole team worked together in the warehouse to manage the high amount of orders, followed by handling returns.

In between helping with the SS25 launch operations, I was also involved in marketing activities. I planned the Instagram feed for the campaign period and scheduled posts for the upcoming month. Additionally, I managed content scheduling on Pinterest. A highlight was co-creating a press kit with a colleague, which we distributed to journalists and key industry contacts to generate media interest about the new collection.

Best regards,

Lilly Kungs

Management Assistant Intern at H&M #2

As I move further into my internship as a Management Assistant at H&M, I’m beginning to truly appreciate the depth and complexity behind the daily operations of a fashion retail store. The early excitement has evolved into a more reflective understanding of how each component of store management contributes to a larger strategic whole.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve continued to develop my knowledge of budget management, with a particular focus on how scheduling and working hours are carefully planned to align with expected foot traffic and sales targets. While external factors like sales can be unpredictable, it’s been eye-opening to see how thoughtful planning can create both flexibility and stability within the team.

One area that continues to captivate me is visual merchandising. Working closely with the Visual team, I’ve seen how product placement, colour schemes, and layout decisions are not just aesthetic choices — they are powerful tools that shape customer flow and drive conversion. It’s a delicate balance between creativity and strategy, and I’m learning how much data and forecasting go into even the most visually engaging displays.

Building on my years of experience as a Sales Advisor at H&M, I now see familiar routines through a new lens. As an intern, I’ve had the chance to understand why certain decisions are made and how they fit into the bigger picture. From stock management to budget control to team coordination, every task is part of a wider system — one that relies on strong leadership, efficient textile flow, and a shared commitment to customer satisfaction.

What continues to stand out to me is the interconnectedness of textile management with everything we do. The way products are received, organized, displayed, and sold is a direct reflection of how well operations are managed behind the scenes.

As I look ahead to the remainder of my internship, I’m excited to take on more responsibility, continue engaging in strategic discussions, and contribute to the kind of customer experience H&M is known for. Each day brings new challenges, and with them, new opportunities to grow — both professionally and personally.

AI in post-consumer value chain 1/3

Hello,

I hope you are all doing well.

It has been a few weeks since I started my research assistant internship (RAI) with Jonas Larrson, mapping artificial intelligence (AI) in the post-consumer value chain. The value chain has been categorised into various stages from collection to recycling. As you all know, AI is an emerging field, and its use has been evolving constantly in the field of textiles with the help of data. Some uses, such as prediction and optimisation of production planning, quality, sales, purchasing, etc.,  are carried out through different types of neural network models such as KNN, Random Forests, Decision trees, Logistic regression, YOLO, Genetic Algorithms, etc., which allow companies to be more efficient.

These AI models are also being researched, tested and commercialised in the post-consumer value chain for waste valorisation. A recent discussion with a smart bin service provider revealed an operational commercial case of textile waste management with the help of remote sensing and data. The company was turning conventional bins into smart bins by adding sensors to monitor waste levels and optimise logistical routes for pick up. Similarly, there are sorting facilities which are deploying machine learning models together with various imaging devices to classify textile waste based on colour, fibre composition, woven/knitted, etc., to channel materials for different value streams.

I look forward to knowing more about the vast uses of AI and technology in the post-consumer value chain for textiles.

Best of luck and keep greening!
