STITCHING TO SOCIAL IMPACT: INSIGHTS INTO ROLE OF TIER ONE SUPPLIERS IN SOCIAL SUSTAINABILITY ROAD – VIEW FROM BRAND’S EYE IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES

Exit Poster of Jannatul Rayhana

There are darkness under the light always. The same way a fuzzy underworld of difficulties lurks underneath the beauty and energy of the fashion apparel business, particularly in developing countries. The fashion garment industry has been linked to a number of societal issues over the years, including child labour and harsh working conditions. Now a days globalization has bloomed overnight, it makes crucial that apparel industry must prioritize and overcome these critical concerns.

The one solution can be that supplier involvement. Tier one suppliers, considered the industry's backbone, can be the key on this issue. Because their operations are supported by a large labor force, they are in a great position to implement sustainable and ethical practices. Apparel brand can strike a balance between economic ambitions and social responsibility by working with these suppliers.

However, what roles should these suppliers take on? How can brands work together harmoniously to achieve social sustainability in underdeveloped countries? What brand thinks in this scenario?

So the purpose of this thesis is to look into the roles that fashion apparel brands want their tier one suppliers to play in helping them achieve their social sustainability goals in developing countries, as well as to define how fashion brands and their direct suppliers might work together effectively. To achieve its research goals, the study used a qualitative technique that included an investigative framework and abductive reasoning. The primary dataset consists of semi-structured interviews, with secondary data sourced from scholarly publications, conference papers, brand websites, consulting firm reports/news, and so on. The data paints a clear picture that tier one suppliers participation with brands not only promotes sustainability, but also influences the overall supply chain's strategic approach. Furthermore, the study defines the requirements that brands want their tier one suppliers to meet, resulting in a productive synergy. The new recommended framework depicted in this poster highlights these parameters and duties.

The scenario that brand believed tier might help them overcome is made plain. This framework can help both brands and suppliers understand strategy development, challenges, and subsequent tier planning. It substantiates the theoretical advancement of the framework by offering empirical evidence of its applicability within the operations of the garment supply chain. It may also guides an analysis of social sustainability across several cultural and demographic dimensions within the framework of strategy development. This research moreover offers an overview for brands and Tier 1 suppliers to assess and enhance their social sustainability initiatives with the aim of fostering better collaboration. Fostering collaboration with groups such as first-tier suppliers will be so important as the world becomes more interconnected. Their role is no longer restricted to production; they are now industry change makers, paving the road for a more ethical and sustainable future.

CLOSING A CHAPTER BUT OPENING A NEW ONE

 Hello to all,

Hope you had an amazing summer and are ready to the start of year two (exciting).

So these days where my finals days as CDLP intern for the Whole Sale team. The past month was intense and just so many things going on between a showroom in Copenhagen, sending all orders for this falls to all our clients across the world (literally) and making all the little tasks of the day to day. Also I helped the PR team with gifting and arranging editorial lends for different magazines, stylist and so on.

It has been amazing going back to the work world and I didn't realised how much I love it. Also it has helped me realise what I want to do for my professional life and what not. I have learned not only new things for my professional life but for the personal as well.

I can see that all the hard work and effort payed off, and I feel very proud of myself.

Can't wait to see you and get all the stories from your internships, lives, summers and so on.

See you soon compañeros!

Exit Poster: Future of textile waste in the EU

Textile waste and its management have become increasingly urgent issues within the European Union. As new regulations come into effect, aimed at boosting collection rates, the problem of textile waste is anticipated to escalate further. The EU's commitment to a greener future is a crucial step, but it's important to acknowledge that the transition might initially face challenges. This is because both the consumption of textiles and disposal behaviors are projected to rise.

Our study delved into this complex issue by examining the potential future flow of materials. The findings of this study highlight the severity of the scenarios that lie ahead, particularly in terms of waste volume. What remains uncertain is how these escalating waste levels will be managed and repurposed. Consequently, there is an urgent need to proactively address this concern by employing strategies that facilitate circular material flows, ultimately leading towards a more sustainable future.

One such strategy that holds promise is the reuse of clothing. By encouraging individuals to extend the lifespan of their garments through repair, alteration, and second-hand utilization, a substantial portion of the demand for new textile products could be alleviated. The significance of this approach becomes evident through our analysis that combines quantitative research with a systemic and dynamic perspective. Undoubtedly, effective waste management continues to be a critical challenge. The increase in textile waste accentuates the need for innovative and efficient methods of waste disposal and recycling. However, an equally vital aspect is to address the relentless cycle of consumption. This is where the potential of reusing textiles comes into play. By prolonging the life of existing products, the rate of new purchases can be slowed down,

While the concept of reusing clothing might seem like a small step, it carries meaningful implications for a more sustainable trajectory. In the grand scheme of addressing textile waste, every small effort counts. It's important to acknowledge that change won't occur overnight, but through a series of conscious choices, progress can be achieved. By blending proactive waste management with responsible consumption patterns, the EU can navigate the path towards a more sustainable future. In conclusion, the challenges posed by textile waste within the EU demand immediate attention. The introduction of regulations to enhance waste collection is just the beginning. The real test lies in effectively managing the increasing waste volume while reshaping consumer behaviours. Through strategies like clothing reuse and repair, it is possible to take steps, although small, in the right direction. The road ahead might be demanding, but with a concerted effort from individuals, industries, and policymakers, a greener and more sustainable future is hopefully attainable.

Thesis poster blog. Presented by Shafin Afrid & Arafat Saleheen

Picture a world where you're part of a group of organic farmers who want to make sure your fruits are truly organic, and you want everyone to know it. To achieve this, you decide to employ a sophisticated technology called blockchain to meticulously track your organic fruit's journey, from its inception on the farm to the moment it reaches consumers' tables.

Here's how it works: Every time you pick a batch of fruits, you write down important details like the harvest date, location, and the specific farming methods utilized. This data is then securely stored on a blockchain, a digital ledger that's like a highly fortified vault for information. This ledger ensures that nobody can tamper with the data, providing an unbreakable record of each batch.

The magic happens in how this information is linked together. Each set of data is called a “Block” and is defined with a unique code called “Hash”. Now, let's focus on the chain aspect. The hash of the previous block is included in the current block, forming a chain of transactions. This allows everyone to follow the chronological history of the organic fruits' journey.

As these organic fruits make their way through the supply chain, more information is continually added to the blockchain. This might encompass details about their transportation, storage conditions, and any certifications they've acquired during the journey. Every single step is meticulously recorded as a new link in the chain, and it remains incredibly secure.

For the end consumer, it's wonderfully simple. When they purchase these organic fruits, all they need to do is scan a code on the packaging, such as a barcode or QR code. This grants them access to the blockchain data, offering a comprehensive history of the fruits, including their origin, cultivation practices, and the entire journey they underwent before landing on their plate. With the blockchain-based system in place, consumers have confidence in the authenticity and quality of the organic fruits they purchase. They can trust that the information provided is not changed by anyone from the future stakeholder in the supply chain, as any attempt to tamper with the data would be immediately stopped due to the blockchain's immutable nature.

This example demonstrates how blockchain technology can be used to enhance immutability, transparency, and trust. The concept holds immense potential for the textile industry, although it's currently underutilized. That is because it is not without its challenges. Companies often hesitate to share certain information, and there's a lack of interoperability between different blockchain systems, making collaboration difficult. On top of that, concerns about security, the costs involved, lack of incentives, and government regulations also present obstacles. Because of these reasons, the scalability of the blockchain implementation in the complex supply chain of textiles has become quite difficult.

EU legislation has proposed to mandatorily include a Digital Product Passport (DPP) with all textiles sold in Europe by 2030. This DPP acts like an electronic record for each item of clothing. It's designed to make it easier for everyone involved in the clothing industry, from manufacturers to consumers, to share and access important information about each piece of clothing.

However, for this idea to work smoothly alongside blockchain technology, we need to first address the intricate challenges within the clothing industry. It's a bit like solving a complex puzzle before we can fully benefit from these innovations.

Final chapter VDM

 Helloooo to you all,

As summer comes to an end so my study in VMD does. Almost done with the projects and ready to present my results tomorrow. Mykonos is more beautiful than ever. The island is the epitome of fashion. Someone could see from the basic Speedy bag until custom made Hérmes that I do not even want to guess the price. Nevertheless, I have found a good reason through this project to visit all three pop-up Louis Vuitton's stores here and the experience is UNIQUE. I have learned so many things about the luxury world that I am truly grateful for this journey.

I cannot wait to meet you all back in Borås.

Social Media Intern 3/3

Hi everyone!

I have now finished my last day as a social media intern at my internship. The whole four months have been very insightful, and an interesting. My internship period provided me with many opportunities to learn and develop different skills.

My biggest learning has been understanding the planning and strategy that goes into social media marketing and building of the brand image. As well as working closely with statistics and analysing the performance of the posted content.

In addition to to the work with social media I got to work with marketing production and PR, which greatly added to my experience. Having a broader look at the different possible career paths has been very beneficial, when considering which direction I want to go after graduation. I am very grateful for my internship experience and very happy with the company that I had the opportunity to work at!

MY INTERNSHIP JOURNEY CONTINOUS (2/3)

 Hello everyone!

Hope you are having a good time.

For the ones that have finished their internship, congrats!!! For the ones that are still on them, hope all is going fine.

As for me, I am still in my internship as I decided to to a long one (till the end of August) and I am at CDLP. In the past month not a lot has changed but I went to London and had a look at the retailers that we are part of, so Harrods, Selfridges and Harvey Nichols, talk to the sales team there and see how the brand is being displayed, how we are doing and how are the sales team feeling in general. It was amazing to get such nice feedback of the brand and see how is very appreciated and loved in the UK Market.

Back in Stockholm doing same same so I decided to talk to my team and see if there is a chance of diversifying a little what I am doing and just learn from other areas, let's see how that goes. The team has grown in the past month and we got three new people coming in, had a chance of see a little of samples for next collections and prepare for Paris and CPH Showroom. Very excited to see what will happen in the next months and just ready to learn more and more.

Hope all are having a good summer and time so far compañeros!!!

Product Developer intern 3/3

Hey Everyone!

This post is my last, the ten weeks has gone so fast. Since last I have been occupied with a lot of different task. I have been continued my work with the contacting suppliers on fabric and finishes but also on trims, which has been extensive but fun. I have been participating in arranged company days and been visiting shops where the product are sold and meeting customers. I have also continued to get an insight in work that the pattern makers do and how it is related to the product developers and also been helping them with various difficulties regarding fitting and other problems that have occurred.

I am grateful for this experience, it has really helped me to get an insight in the textile industry and the product development department and its challenges and processes which will be helpful for me in the future.

Science Park Boras (3/3)

Hello Everyone. I hope all of you are doing well.

I have been working with science park Boras in a project where our aim is to make a shopping mall circular. Based on our various workshops and research we have come up with some solutions. I particularly involved in the concept of remake/ reuse of the products. We planned to equipped the clothing shops as a platform for educating customers about sustainable practices, such as repairing and reusing products. Workshops and classes can be organised to teach skills related to tailoring and repairs, empowering individuals to be more self-sufficient and environmentally conscious. I have to work on the possibilities and challenges of this concept.

Last week of my individual field study. Putting the results together. It has been an interesting and exciting 10 weeks. I have learned a lot about social media and how people engage on them.

It was really interesting to learn how to collect data from social media and use them as a research tool. I have also learned more about conducting research and methodologies, which was really challenging in the beginning. This process has provided me with insights into social media and research strategies. Another interesting aspect of this project was the process of collecting and analyzing data.

Hope everyone is having fun in their field study.

Design and buying intern (3/3)

 Hi everyone,

My field study is coming to an end. These 10 weeks have been interesting and fun.

The last weeks I have been in meetings for collection SS24. I also got the opportunity to work with trend-forecasting and competitors analysis.

Something new these weeks has been the focus on fitting and testing the garments to see if it was as expected. As a customer I always assumed that they produce and do not consider how it actually turned out, so that has been fun to test and analyze the items.

This week I also visited the studio where the produce all their image for website and commercial.

The internship overall have been fun and interesting. I have had great supervisors and colleges. I also learned what I like and dislike in the design and production role.

Thank you for these weeks!

Social Media Marketing Intern 2/3

Hi everyone!

Now I am at the halfway of my internship here at Filippa K. It feels like I have gotten even more comfortable and efficient with my tasks, and formed some routines around my weekly repeating tasks that I am responsible for. The campaign shoot which I got to be part in the beginning of my internship launched this week, and it was very interesting to see the final material and entire process that happens before the launch. It has been nice to see how all the teams work together to make everything happen.

Besides that, I helped to organize a sample sale that we had at the office, which was fun. I've also gotten the chance to be part of many meeting with external agencies and platforms which the brand could potentially work with. It has given me more of an overview of the different companies operating within the fields of marketing, PR and social media.

Eye tracking studies with Noel G 3/3

Hello again!

It has now come to my last blog post. I am now as everyone else in the finishing stages of my internship and this course. In the last couple of days I have been analyzing all the data gathered from my eye-tracking experiments including recordings where the participants ''thought out loud'' while performing an task on a fashion webstore. After analyzign and compiling the verbal and eye tracking data I combined the results with interviews that I had conducted with all the participants included in my experiments and drew intereseting conclusion. I want to thank Handelslabbet for all the support and for letting me use their equipment in my research. I hope everyone has some nice last weeks at their internships and that you have gained useful knowledges for your future careers! /Noel G

Material developer intern (3/3)

Hello classmates, hope everyone has had a fun and good experience at your internships.

My internship is now coming to an end, in 2 weeks to be exact.  Which means summer (WOHHOO!!!) and moving back to Gothenburg. This internship has passed quickly, but has been incredibly educational and fun. And contributed to a deeper understanding of the different tasks that are done in a company, especially regarding product development and materials.

In recent weeks I have been busy optimizing the libraries of different products and materials, which was much appreciated and will facilitate the work in the future. And the last task before I leave will be to finalize all the fabric orders for SS25 and further order the first samples. This will undermine the upcoming work for the season as there will be ready samples to start working with in the office when all colleagues come back from their holidays at the end of the summer.

See you all after the summer! Hope you have a great summer!

Field Study in VDM

 Hello everyone,

I hope that as this journey comes closer to an end you all manage to learn more and develop your desired skills. As for me, I am still in Mykonos, inspired by all the Greek atmosphere and how people here love fashion in their own different way. The report is moving forward and I hope by the end of the week I will be done. The paper goes as I planned and have given me lots of useful information about the magic world of visual merchandising and especially in luxury brands that is the sector I would like to work after this master.

Can't wait for the summer to finally start at this beautiful place. And also can't wait to meet you all again in September and talk about your experiences during internship and summer.

Social Sustainability Intern (2/3)

Hello,

Beginning from a scattered place I have finally found a direction. During this internship I stepped way out of my comfort zone ;) while talking to strangers. For this project I needed to go out and ask car mechanics to test our product and share feedback. Initially I was apprehesive about the whole process but now I consider it an achievement when I evaluate the findings. Through this internship I have definitely learned more about the value of communication and information.

It is sad that as I started enjoying the work, it is coming to an end.

Looking forward to everyone's presentations ... Good Luck !

RAI at Handelslabbet! 2/3

Hello,

Hope everyone is enjoying their internship; the time is passing by so quickly.

I'm currently in the middle of learning the software. Although I initially believed it would be easier for me since I have knowledge of pattern making, because this is a self-learning process, there are times when it can be difficult to identify where I made mistakes. However, I am determined to continue learning and improving my skills in this software. I hope to be able to create amazing designs with it in the near future. There are still two weeks left in this process,  I can now design basic clothes in CLO 3D.  This coming week, I'll add animation to the procedure to see how it responds to movement.

Good luck to you all!

Inventory & Procurement Intern (3/3)

Hi everyone,

This is my third month of the internship, and in my previous blog, I talked about a RACI that I was preparing. It was a fantastic experience and a successful one with many new learnings, which made me more curious about inventory management and buying process.

I started to learn internal systems used to analyse data, check the inventory, and buying processes as well as purchasing planning.

This phase of my internship is quite intense and a journey of learning many new things. Apart from the processes and systems, I’m mainly allocated to learning demand planning which has been one of my dreams since I started my bachelor’s degree 😊. Moreover, I’m helping the purchasing planners and buyers with their daily tasks.

This is a new milestone in my life where I’m learning many new things and allocating them to reasonable practices…..

Marketing Intern Journey (3/3)

Hi Everyone!

I am now writing during the seventh week of my Marketing Internship. Finally spring has arrived in Stockholm!

Now it’s easy to have a general overview of this internship, which has been great from my perspective.

I’ve been able to learn so many different things in marketing and branding. My marketing internship has been extremely dynamic. Moreover, I’ve been able to use my creative skills in many different ways, which has been the most fun part.

Now I am familiar with all the different platforms that we are working with, which is super useful for my future positions, since companies are looking for candidates that are comfortable with such platforms.

I will conclude my internship with a campaign shooting that we are preparing during these days. Managing a campaign shooting can be stressful and fun at the same time. Let’s see what comes out, I am excited to see the results!

Good luck everyone and enjoy the spring!!

Science Park Boras (2/3)

(On behalf of Saad as he is having problem to post here)

Hello Everyone. I hope all of you are doing well.

This circular shopping mall project turned out to be an interesting one. I have visited the location and tried to understand the possibilities of incorporating our ideas. There are many more challenges in reality than that we sketched on paper. I have participated in a workshop with the facilitators, researchers, and the responsible persons from the stakeholders. We have come up with some concepts to work forward. As a research assistant, I have to develop descriptive scenarios for each concept, like business feasibility and stories about how the customers use these services. And have to develop business models based on these scenario descriptions and identify implementation barriers and opportunities.

Design and buying intern (2/3)

Hi everyone!

A couples of weeks left of the internship.

So far I have placed many orders from Bangladesh, Shanghai and Italy. I have gotten to se the workday of a designer and buyer which was not as I expected. the designer is more visionary and thinks of the future and the role contains a lot of administrative work.

I have also learned about the shipping process, visited warehouse and in meetings about the AW24 collections for lingerie and swimwear.

Hope everyone is having a good field study.

One month after

 Hi guys.

I hope you are all enjoying your Sunday and your first months in internships. I decided to make a written report about visual merchandising in luxury brands and how they differentiate among physical stores and e-commerce. Currently I am in Mykonos studying and working. The research about this topic has given me endless results so all I have been doing this month is collecting the informations I thought they are useful for my topic.

I believe now I am in a good spot to start writing and giving a format to the final paper. Super excited about what I have learned so far. Until now, I have realized the importance of the way that a collection needs to be presented in order to attract new and old customers. Hope you are happy and excited as well.

Social Sustainability Intern

Hello :)

I am working as a social sustainability intern in a Stockholm based start-up business.

The company has developed a unique product which is inner lining for gloves  for people suffering from hand eczema. It keeps their hands dry and stops further inflammation from moisture.

I am working on investigating the effects of using these gloves by car mechanics with hand eczema problem.

After a lot of moving around here and there I decided to document why to persuade workers to use inner lining gloves under their water proof EV gloves.

Since this internship is hybrid my learnings are mostly through reading and analysis. It is exciting to learn about new possibilities.

I have given some sample products to a few employees suffering from hand eczema  to use daily,  looking forward to the findings after one month use.

Eye tracking studies with Noel G 2/3

Hello fellow inmates!

I want to share with you what I'm currently up to, which is studying different eye tracking methods for analyzing the customer journey of online fashion stores.

As a student, I'm always looking for ways to explore new research topics and gain new insights. That's why I decided to delve into the fascinating world of eye tracking, a technology that tracks eye movements to provide objective data on visual attention.

My aim is to compare different methods of conducting an eye tracking study on an online fashion store to determine which one gives me the most valuable data. To achieve this, I'm combining eye tracking experiments with interviews to gain a better understanding of the factors that influence customer behavior when shopping for fashion online.

So far, things are going well, but I must admit that finding participants for my study has been a bit of a challenge. However, I'm extremely grateful for the 10 people who have volunteered their time and data.

One of the things that excites me about eye tracking is its ability to provide objective data on visual attention. With this data, I can gain insights into what parts of a website or product people are looking at and for how long. This information can be used to optimize the design and layout of online stores to improve the user experience and increase sales.

If you're reading this and happen to be in Borås, I would be thrilled if you would consider participating in my study. Your contribution will help to advance the understanding of online shopping behavior and could ultimately lead to improvements in the way online stores are designed.

In conclusion, I'm excited about the progress I've made so far and look forward to continuing my research on eye tracking in online fashion stores. I'll be sure to keep you updated on my findings. Thanks for reading, and until next time, take care and good luck!

Material developer intern (2/3)

Hello classmates!

My 6th week as a material developer intern at peak performance has almost passed. The last few weeks have been very fun and eventful. I have started taking more responsibility and doing heavier tasks, which has resulted in me becoming more integrated into the team.

The main thing I am working on now is to help develop the spring/summer 25 season, where materials, trims and designs have to be decided. These decisions must be made in the coming weeks in order to be able to present the collection within the given time frame. Thus, there is a lot to do, which I find very fun and educational.

By working on this, I have gained a deeper insight into the process of creating a collection, and it is a much greater achievement than I could have imagined.

I look forward to hearing how the rest of you are doing!

MY INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE SO FAR

Hello to everyone wherever you are in the wooooorld, hope you are having fun, learning a lot and making the most of this time.

I can't believe it's already my third week in my internship, definitely time flies. I am working in a Swedish brand called CDLP, that is luxury underwear for men and women in the commercial and brand team... my official name is Commercial Coordinator.

So far I have learned a lot about the company and how it works internally, the platforms that they use, different activities in different areas such as Supply Chain, Customer Care, Marketing and Creative Area and in general how they perform and work their day to day. We are quite a small team and I love that as we get the chance to get to know us and there are no barriers between different ranks... literally I am sitting next to the CEO Andreas. One thing that I love is that every Monday we have a general meeting where we share all the good things that happened, how the company is developing in numbers, areas of opportunity, a quick update from every team and any other relevant thing that might come up. It is a good chance to see / understand how CDLP is doing in general, what everyone is doing at the moment and what is coming.

My team is based in Paris and New York at the moment, me being the connection to the company in Stockholm so communication is key and I have learned to deal with that the past weeks. I am helping in general everyone but some of my tasks are doing orders for our customers in our different platforms, gifting, going to our retailer NK and make sure the brand is well presented and get a general idea of how is doing, help any wholesaler in case they need information about products and making sure the brand is being communicated as it needs to be.

Some of the highlights of my weeks here have been:

- A pop up we did at NK.

- The launch of a collaboration with artist Jwan Yosef.

- The office where I work (it used to be an old coffee shop in an old house so it feels super cool).

-Working for half a day in our flagship store to get a feeling of also how we work in that side.

-Miami pop up as we are expanding the market in USA.

I am looking forward to my next months here to see what the future brings, learn more about the company, fashion and all that comes in the way. Also very excited that we will have a showroom in Paris over the summer and just found out we are going to be part of Copenhagen Fashion Week for the first time... so my compañeros keep your fingers crossed that they will send this intern to both of them (I WISH).

Until the next time!!!

Social Media Marketing Intern 1/3

 Hi everyone!

I have now been at my internship at Filippa K for about three weeks. Everyone has been very welcoming here and I am very happy with the the team that I get to work with.

The social media team is quite small, but it has been nice to work so closely within my own team. I have also gotten the chance to attend all the other meetings with different teams such as eCom and marketing production and listen in. I feel like I have gotten a good insight into how things work, and what the current brand strategy is, which everyone here is very focused on.

So far, I have worked with all different content creation tasks related to social media and the different platform's that the brand is using. I also had a chance to be a part of a campaign photoshoot, by assisting the stylist and the general photoshoot as part of the team.

I have enjoyed my time so far and I look forward to the next few months here over the summer!

Product Developer Intern 1/3

 Hi everyone!

I am doing my internship at a company that works with workwear and protective wear. My first weeks here I have been presented to the company and the organization. My role is as a product developer intern, and I have been participating in meetings both internal and external and got the opportunity to get an insight in their daily work. My first tasks in the product development team have been to help them mapping their sustainability approaches regarding their products and getting a wider understanding about the challenges they are facing when it comes to new upcoming regulations regarding substances that will no longer be allowed.  For me that are interested in environmental sustainability when it comes to product development this feels like a great opportunity to learn and interact with the ongoing sustainability changes that the industry is facing.

Science Park Boras- 1/3

(On behalf of Saad since he can not access the blog for some reason)

Hello Everyone. I hope all of you are doing well.

I have started working as a research assistant with Boras Science Park with a project that aims to make a shopping mall circular in a business-feasible way. It is a new concept and an interesting one. There are a lot of challenges and opportunities, and we have to find them as a team by interviewing stakeholders like consumers, shop owners, brands, and enablers. We are analysing previous cases in different sectors to understand more about this concept.

The first two weeks have been eventful, with various workshops, concept proposals and analysing them, and open voting for the concepts to proceed further. It is even more challenging because I have many document translations to do. Nevertheless, it is a beautiful opportunity for me to learn about new concepts and network with different clothing brands and local enablers who will help close this circularity concept loop.

Inventory & Procurement Intern (2/3)

Hello again,

Now the time has passed, and I am more engaged with day-to-day tasks and some specific tasks handed over to me. As I mentioned in my first blog, we had a crystal clear introduction to the company and the different global planning and merchandising processes. My mentor monitors my work every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I have a task runner where my work’s records and statutes are officially gathered.

As my first task, I was given a list of articles (styles) cancelled during Fall/Winter 2023. My mission was to analyse these data, find if there is any similarity between the cancellations and come up with findings with a presentation highlighting these similarities. The data set should be analysed under 10 criteria, and after using my previous work experience as a buyer, I came across successful conclusions. So that’s how I completed my first task as an intern.

Today is the submission for my second task: creating a process evaluation matrix (RACI) for a particular carryover programme within the company. I had to conduct different structured interviews with various departments and come to conclusions.

So let’s see the feedback from my team about my report….🥳

Marketing Intern Journey (2/3)

Hi Everyone!

I am now writing during the fourth week of my Marketing Internship. Time flies!

I’ve recently had a meeting with my manager where I was asked what I would like to focus on, which is a great opportunity to learn what is most important for me, also considering my background.

Last week I had the opportunity to plan and partecipate in the press day for the release of the AW23 collection; it’s been a great experience, I met so many people!

An overview of my tasks so far included: influencer marketing activities and related shipping management activities; planning and creation of contents for SoMe and campaigns; activities related to the press day.

I feel lucky because here I have the opportunity to range between around different tasks, which is super good for finding out what I would like to do next.

Can’t wait to hear from you!

Xx

The upcoming weeks I will get to opportunity to work with buyer and designers and see their daily work process to develop a collection.

See you all next time!

RAI at Handelslabbet! 1/3

Hello!

It was good to know about your internship journey.

I am doing my internship in Handelslabbet, where i am going to learn 3D software CLO3D. Currently CLO is widely used by the textile buyers and suppliers. To save time as well as consumptions of samples, this 3D designs technology is being implemented in the fashion industry. It also allows for a more sustainable and eco-friendly approach to textile production.

For me it took some time to decide what I want to do in this project. So first week i was going through the tutorials, and doing some study about tools. And finally, last week I have managed to start with the actual software :)

I am excited to apply my new knowledge and skills to create something unique and useful.

Good Luck to you all!

IFS Dimitra 1/3

 Hello,

Hope everyone is doing well!! I am working on a project studying social media strategies, more specifically Instagram and how they can contribute to fashion and textiles. I am really interested in learning about different social media strategies and learning more about fashion and textiles. I observe different Instagram profiles that suggest different posting strategies and also reading research articles about the topic. Moreover, I read different books to gain knowledge on textiles and fashion.

Have a great week!!

Eye tracking studies with Noel G 1/3

Hey fellow interns!

I was initially tasked with conducting an eye-tracking study for an outdoor company's website. The study was meant to help optimize their website's layout, but unfortunately, it had to be terminated due to organizational issues.

Initially, I was disappointed, but I didn't want to give up on exploring the potential of eye-tracking. At the moment I am evaluating different options to what I could do instead, but it leans towards comparing various eye-tracking methods to determine the most effective way to conduct such studies for companies. I think this study could be really beneficial to companies looking to improve their website's layout and user experience in the future.

I realized that eye-tracking is an excellent complement to Google Analytics since it can help companies understand where their customers are looking on the website. This information can be used to optimize a website's layout, ultimately improving the overall customer experience.

This week, I also had the opportunity to assist with an eye-tracking study at a physical store for Handelslabbet. It was an amazing experience, and I learned so much about conducting eye-tracking studies in a physical setting.

To my fellow interns, I hope this encourages you to keep an open mind and take on new opportunities. Even if things don't go as planned, it's essential to stay curious and explore new avenues. Good luck with your internships, and don't hesitate to take on exciting new challenges!

Inventory & Procurement Intern(1/3)

Hello everyone,

It’s hard to believe that I have completed two months of my internship of 4 months…😊

I started my journey with Gant Global Headquarters Stockholm as an Inventory and Procurement intern. Of course, it was challenging and exciting to move to a new city all alone with a broken phone and two suitcases 😂.

It was a warm welcome from everybody in the office, and we had a whole week of introduction sessions with different departments.

I had the opportunity to attend almost every team meeting related to inventory and procurement. After every session, I could discuss and clarify the new details with my mentor.

My experience with this company is way more exciting and fruitful than I imagined, and I’ll share them in the upcoming blogs.

Looking forward to reading about your experiences!
