Last post from Tiger

Hi guys!

Last week I left Tiger and Stockholm and I am now back on the west coast finishing up the last parts of my report. The last few days at my internship were pretty intense with a lot of fittings, samples to measure and things to prepare for when the new creative director joins the Tiger team next week. My colleagues however managed to squeeze in a goodbye fika and gave me some beautiful flowers. I have enjoyed my time at Tiger a lot and I'm sure going to miss it, especially my colleagues!

I have learned a lot during my weeks at Tiger, both about the company and their processes and activities, and how the business works in general. I'm really grateful for having done my internship here and hope to return some day in the future.

Hope you all have fantastic summer, see you again this fall!

Wakakuu (4)

The last week is here and I have been learning so much. It feels like you are one in the team now, and I have my different tasks that I am responsible for, so i know what to do all the time which feels good. However the time is soon up and I am currently writing the last parts of the thesis of the internship project. I am focusing on social media, and specially Instagram. I have studied som different strategies, and i have tried them out so, now i am analyzing the result to see wether the strategies are working or not. For example if I use hashtags, do I get more likes or if i write a creating caption, do I gain more engagement from the followers. Anyway you can read more about this later on when my report is uploaded and done.

We won!!

Soo , this is the last post for now!

These past weeks have been very interesting, stressful and meaningful and I am glad that I chose to go to Baum and Copenhagen. Even though many of you will end your internship now, I will continue mine during the summer which I hope will give me even more insight.

But the past week has been very overwhelming! There has been so much to do as we now are so busy with getting our orders out and organizing the collection so it presents itself well to the world. But in the middle of all this my laptop and all other personal items got stolen, so I am now in the process of trying to wright my report from the beginning again!! Very frustrating! But I will try to wright about the process, importance and challenges of our sales meetings which may seem very boring but I actually is one of our most critical moments during the sales. So the repost will be very narrow and informing rather than investigating.

But then after being so sad that my belongings got stolen, Baum und Pferdgarten won the category Best design at Elle Style Awards which was very exciting and boosting for the brand!!! Yaaay!

I hoe you all also have been able to get some sun during the last couple of weeks!

Have a great weekend!// Stefanie

LAYERED

Hi,

Two months have passed since I started my internship at Layered! Time has really flown by and I am very glad that I have been spending this time at the company. I have met very inspiring and nice people who have given me new knowledge and experience in mainly purchase but also other areas within the company. It will be fun that I can continue my internship at Layered during the summer!

In a week, the final report will be submitted! Since I have been involved in the pricing process of the company's new collections, I have chosen to target my report to this where I have investigated how the company works when determining the final selling price to customers and if the company use any pricing strategy.  I chose to have an interview with the company's CEO and founder, as well as the company's purchasers to gather data for the report.

Have a nice summer! :)

Observing at work!

Good evening everyone!

I'm writing this time to update you about how it went observing the store environment, as well as, customers' reactions when interacting with the salesperson (in this case with me! :P). While observing, I set the focus on identifying, among other things, the use of the language in our conversations, which were the most frequently asked questions, how customers approached the salesforce or if they felt comfortable when I offered them help. From my point of view, it was very interesting to do so because when I work I don't usually pay attention to these small details... The difficult part was to remember all the information and write it down later!
I have also described which are the tasks that salespersons do in order to offer a good customer service. I'm posting a picture that I took from the staff room which shows the six minimum rules that everyone working at the boutique must follow ;)

I'm writing soon to explain what is the final conclusion of my field study.

Have a nice weekend! :)

Last week at Tiger

Hi guys!

I now have one week left of my internship and like many of you, I feel these two months have passed way too fast. I have had so much fun and met so many fantastic people! The last couple of weeks have been really exciting as we have received a lot of samples. I have been a part of the production process of many of these products, and it's really exciting to see the progress and effect of the feedback my colleagues and I have given the suppliers on previous samples.

Apart from the everyday work, I have been interviewing people from design and production at both the accessories and women's department for my work with the report. During my time at Tiger I have really come to realise how much work it takes the different departments (all with different timings, suppliers, designers and ways of working) to present four collections that are coherent with one another. This is therefore what I have decided to write my report about. To me, this topic is especially exciting as Tiger starting next week will have a new creative director, who most probably will work a lot with these kinds of questions. Everyone at the office are really excited for what's to come!

Hope you are all well and enjoying the last few days of your internships!

Interviews, photoshoots and analyzing

Hi again!

I'm writing from the studio, where our e-com photoshoot is taking place as we speak.

It has been a few hectic days of shooting, both last week and this one. What has been most interesting for me to see is how much effort there is behind only one single picture.

Before the shoot started all parties involved must organize their thoughts around the shoot in able to produce material which will be both inspiring, desirable, and appear luxurious while still being somewhat commercial in order to sell to the intended target group. The creative director must be assured that the collection which she created appears as she wishes, through a dialoge with the stylist. Meanwhile the sales and marketing team have inputs on how some styles must be photographed in easier combinations in order for their intended customer to understand and desire the product. All this while coordinating studio locations, suitable models and photographers which can help bring the collection to life. There is so much work behind these pictures which we scroll through on a daily basics, in our social media feeds, which most of us never ever notice.

I am glad to have experienced all work and effort behind these pictures and it has given me a great insight in how small details come to matter while constantly aiming to analyze the work you do and whom you do it for - the customer.

Besides all photoshoots going on, I have held interviews with head of each department at the company to analyze their coordination between departments and how these collaborations take an important place in their work with their 360 omni channel they aim to present to their customer. It has been truly interesting to understand each departments role and thoughts behind the work that they do.
More about this in my report - later!

Have a great week guys!
Xx, Sofia

Brique

Hi!

This week I will formulate a written guide that will put all the pieces together which include: marketing analysis, competitor analysis, ROI - and google activity, marketing communication strategy, distribution channels for her new web shop. Including elements such as design and visual communication. The goal is to present an overall discussion about how to make Brique more cohesive within the channels and reflect the owners vision. In somewhat you can say, that my task is to clarify the decisions that will affect her business and brand, accounting the costs and time plan. This includes making a forecast on the prospects of investing in a new web design and gain new collaborations.

The purpose is to present this to the owner of Brique at the end of next week.
Wish me good luck.

My last week at Nelly.com

And so my last week has arrived. It feels so sad, but I'm also so grateful for this chance. I'm starting to pack up my things; clean my desk, finish my orders and my last contacts with the suppliers. I'm spending a lot of time writing my paper now, as well as I'm planning the farewell-presents and getting my internship certificate. I have less than three days left; today, tomorrow and Friday. Thursday is a  public holiday in Sweden, so many of my colleagues will be out of the office that day and also Friday. I, on the other hand, will be there on Friday, as well as my tutor. I mean, it's my last day!!! I have to be there! I want to be there!

I got the greatest certificate from my tutor; apparently, they have all been very pleased with me. That feels so good! Hopefully, this could get me a job at Nelly.com in the future. I would love to go back there and work full time!

Overall, as I said, I'm so very grateful and thankful for getting this opportunity. I've learned so much and I feel like I've really gotten a good glimpse of what it's like working at a fashion company. My interest in fashion has grown, as well as my determination of what I wanna do in the future - I don't want to work with anything else than fashion!

I will try to really enjoy my last days at Nelly.com, and then hug everyone goodbye. Then the next step is to finish my paper as well as surviving the presentation. I'm really looking forward to hearing about my classmates' internships. And then it's summer break, you guys!!! Can't believe how fast time flies.

Thank you all for following my journey at Nelly.com, and good luck to everyone! If I don't see you next week at the presentation, we'll definitely see each other in the fall instead!

Much love,
Kajsa

Two weeks left

Hello everyone!

I can't believe it is only two weeks left of my internship, so sad. I really enjoy being here and being a part of the studio team. I am grateful that I have been able to not only take part in and learn the daily working tasks in several different sections within the the product flow, but also to really dig deeper into the process by investigating, discussing and analysing it's different steps. Doing all this has provided me with such a wider knowledge concerning the fashion industry and the e-commerce business in particular.

However, right now the rest of the studio team is out doing campaign shoots for a few days so I am spending my week up at the buying office which is nice. It is interesting to also get an insight of how the buyers operate on a daily basis. My analysis of the product flow, which I have been working on, is finally coming together and I am in the phase where I am trying to wrap it all up. The last work mostly consists of ranking the critical moments and classifying the different improvements I suggest.

Wish you all a great week.

Interviewing, transcribing and analyzing!

Hi all!

It has been almost a month since I wrote my first post here (time flyes!!!). The truth is that I have been quite busy writing the literature review... Finding the right information to include was a bit hard because most of the articles available were quite old :S. Nevertheless, I am done with it now and I started to perform the interview  to some volunteers who have answered three open questions about their perception of the customer service in fast-fashion stores, as well as, their relationship with salespersons. I must say that I am really enjoying this part :) It is very interesting to see how each interview evolves differently depending on the volunteer's answers. Sometimes, it has been harder since the interviewee was a little bit shy and refused to talk (such a challenge!). On the other hand, transcribing the interviews is not such a funny task :P, although, analyzing them is good. I got a great variety of answers and I'm afraid that drawing a general conclusion from there will become also challenging. I am excited to discover what the conclusion will be finally.

On the upcoming days, I will continue interviewing people, but I will also observe the customer behaviour at the store :)

I hope you guys are doing good and find some time for enjoying this amazing weather! :D

My days with HOPE

Hi everyone, I am glad and feel so informative when reading the blogs of you guys, and it has been a while to update my recent status, so here we go.
I am doing my internship at Hope Production AB and sit at its HQ in Stockholm. I already spent my two weeks there and until now everything goes very well and I am also very happy to work at this company as I personally love the brand Hope a lot.
I work together with sales team at Hope´s sales department, and so far I have done a lot of tasks that include order processing, sales analysis and customer claim handling, etc. I also went out twice with the sales manager and coordinator to inspect the Hope franchised stores and its concessions in Åhléns and NK Stockholm, which was fun to be out of the office sometimes. The company has the clients worldwide, I was planning to write my report about the multiple sales channels such as online, retail, and wholesale at Hope and figure out which channel is the most profitable one, and I talked my thoughts with the manager of sales department, he told me that he planned to do a project also recently to compare the Hope´s online and physical clients with several aspects to find the most profitable one to target and thus to boost the sales. And we both thought that was a good idea and decided to do the project together later on.
Working at Hope HQ in Stockholm is a good challenge and opportunity for me to know more about the Swedish fashion brand and the whole fashion market. And people in the company are very nice and care about the office design, here I posted two pictures of Hope´s office that I love the most, a plant corner and one of the showrooms at the company. I will update more later and hope you have a great summer ! :)

Wakakuu (3)

Hi!
Today I had the possibility to follow one of our buyers to a client and look for new garments for the season fall/winter 2017. The fashion brand that we visited was Odd Molly. They had a really nice big showroom that was inside an apartment, they had several of rooms and in the different rooms there were different types of clothing. In one room there were only underwear, and in another sportswear and casual wear. When we first arrived, we were served some breakfast, sandwich, smoothie and coffee. Then the seller from Odd molly showed us a short movie of the new season, then she went around in the showroom and showed us pieces that we might be interested of to order for Wakakuus assortment. Then we picked out some favorites that we wanted to order.

Since I am usually at the marketing department it was fun to get an insight in the buying department and see what they do. When we came back to the office I made some brand banners for the website and some benchmarking of our competitors’ social media accounts, this is something I do every Tuesday and follow up how it goes for both us and the other brands in social media.  However this was all I had for today, have a great evening J

Work work work!

Hey everyone I hope that you all had a Goo´ Weekend (as they say here in Copenhagen) :)!

The past week has been so busy due to never ending meetings with buyers, that at the moment are buying our resort 18 collection. Me assisting is mainly taking notes and making sure that they have everything they need, but it is definitely interesting. I always thought i would be one the buying side, but the sales side is learning me more than i was expecting!!!

As of now I am also trying to arrange our summer sales meeting, that is upcoming and trying to administrate different orders and accounts that our customers have require help with. All of these tasks have given me new knowledge in different systems which I think might be of use in the future.

The days go by so fast and I am excited to see what more is to come. So until next time amigos!

LAYERED

Hi,

Time for a new week at Layered! The company has a pop-up store at Nordiska Kompaniet in Stockholm and since the company will release two different collections this spring, it is important that the staff in the store are properly informed about the products they are going to sell. Me and Layered's purchasers went to Nordiska Kompaniet last week where a presentation was held about the two different collections. One collection is the furniture that contains 100% linen that I wrote about my last post. The second collection is carpets made from recycled PET bottles. Everything is really really nice!

This week I will follow up suppliers, as I have ordered different types of fabric. I have also been in contact with a new carpet supplier who will send samples this week. Look really forward to see the result! I have also begun to help accommodate customers in the company's showroom that is adjacent to the office. It's very fun when I get a more clear picture of the company's customers and that I learn more about the products.

Bye!

Monday update from the studio

New week, new opportunities.

The sun is shining today and my week started with some report writing. My desk is located in the photo studio next to the warehouse and today there is no shooting going on which makes the studio a nice and quite place for writing. As for now, I am working on a flow chart visualising the product process flow.

When I don't work on writing my report, I am participating in the daily work that goes on in the studio. I have been taught by the copy writer how to write product texts for the website and how to proofread content that is uploaded. On shoots I help out with steaming clothes and registering articles picked out by the stylist. I really enjoy being a part of creating content for the webbshop and I learn new things all the time. By writing about the products and participating in the shoots I have also learned so much more about men's fashion that I did not know before - it is a new world :) so exciting!

Wish you all a good week!

Brique Interior Design

Hi!

Last week I was able to look further into Brique´s Google Analytics pages. Which mean that I am currently trying to figuring out how to connect the dots, to make a marketing analysis about how Brique´s customers are moving in that sphere. As I have never worked in Google Analytics, youtube as been my savior!

I have also spent time trying to reach smaller retailers to ask (10 different retailers), about their choices of transportation and shipments, but no one will answer. Either is it the lack of time, or they do not know how to answer.

As the last few days has given us bad weather and bad light, it has been hard to take nice photos. As the new pictures for the website should have a sense of nature and outdoor activities. Thus, while I am writing and searching for information the girls on Brique has developed their skills in taking photos, now they are focusing on having good quality and cohesiveness in their posts. I hope, before my time is up that I can take some nice photos as well as flying my drone haha.
