A blog from the University of Borås

Hello from Oslo!

I started my internship in April and now three weeks have already passed. I am doing my internship in Oslo, at Holzweiler. Holzweiler is divided into Holzweiler Items and Holzweiler Agency. Holzweiler Items represents the company’s own brands: Holzweiler and Holzweiler Scarves. The other part of the company is the sales agency Holzweiler Agency. The office is situated at beautiful Lysaker Brygge, outside of Oslo city center. Holzweiler Agency is a family-owned company established in 2006. Holzweiler launched the first collection of scarves in 2012 and the first clothing line in 2014. Today Holzweiler is a big name in the Norwegian fashion scene and is growing abroad, which is interesting to observe. As an example, during my time in the company, the supermodel Gigi Hadid has been spotted wearing Holzweiler’s clothing, twice! This has of course put an even bigger spotlight on the company.

The fact that the company is a family-business and in a growing stage creates a special dynamic in the environment. There are a lot of projects going on and I am lucky to get to assist in the different projects. Recently, Holzweiler has launched a collaboration with DNB, the biggest bank in Norway. Last year Holzweiler was chosen to design a new collection for the employees’ at DNB and now the project is due to roll out. During these weeks I have been assisting when recording a press-movie about the project, as well as in the finishing of the collection lookbook which is sent out to about 1000 DNB employees.

Apart from this, I have also gotten to take part in the planning of upcoming events that Holzweiler Agency will host for the represented brands. New collections are coming up and exiting events are scheduled in May to promote the agency’s clients. It is fun to learn about what’s hot on the Norwegian fashion scene and the influencers connected to it. I have gotten the task to do research about details around the events and approach sponsors and partners, which is a lot of fun!

I have also helped out in the daily tasks concerning the office. The Holzweiler webshop and its warehouse is controlled from the office and I have helped out in packing and organizing orders. Many parts of the fashion supply and value chain are carried out from the Holzweiler office; design, accounting, production- and logistic planning, sales and promotion. This provides me with a 360 degree view of a fashion company and is a truly valuable experience!
