If you’re not on the first page, you don’t exist!

This week has been as intense as the previous ones. Since the company I am doing my internship at is selling products for kids, now is the time they have their big selling point when all the Christmas gifts are about to be purchased. On top of this, before Christmas, is also the deadline when all the orders for AW15 are about to be decided and placed. The week have therefore been a lot about going back and forth from the office to meet different sales people from different brands. It feels a bit strange to already be deciding what the kids are supposed to wear a year from now, but it has to be done now so all parties have their time to get everything in the right time.

However, the week has also been a lot about learning how it works to be selling online. It is a hard job to be among the top companies online, you constantly have to work on how to lead the customer traffic to the site and make them buy. I got a really good presentation of how the company is working with SEO and SEM to lead web traffic to the site by the one person at the company who are solely working with these kinds of things. She mentioned that if you don’t exist on the first page when on Google, you don’t exist. Now I look at web shops in a new way and is able to see what they are doing which is good, and what they could be doing better, it is actually really interesting!
