Hej everyone!
My name is Irina and I study Textile Value Chain Management. I´ve been helping with lauching a new plus-size fashion webshop to Finland the past weeks. We had a very tight schedule and tried to open the shop end of this month but because of delays in the orders the opening is postponed by two weeks.
It´s been challenging to work from distance as I can´t help with the practical things that the company would really need my help for. But anyways I feel like I´ve managed to learn from this internship even from distance. There´s a lot to take into consideration when setting up a business from stratch. For example contracts have to be made with different retailers and logistics providers, how much time will the customs add to the delivery time of the products (this we learned the hard way) and where to get all the packing materials.
It´s been also interesting to see how much work goes into photoshoots, product descriptions, editing and marketing. Luckily when the products got delayed we had time to pre-launch the webshop on Instagram and TikTok (go and follow @neritude) and the response has already been great. We´ve been able to get some followers including finnish plus-size influencers and give little sneak peeks for them about the upcoming products and the journey to become a company.
Only few weeks and my internship is done. Can´t believe how fast time has gone by!!
