2 nd post here from Shyness Interior

Hi everyone!

Time flies, for me, it’s only one month left of the internship here at Shyness Interior, I’ve never thought of bed linen in a specific way, never thought that deeply of what kind of quality I bought, but I got to say, I’m now obsessed. People are carefully choosing the right materials and the right compositions, they even ironing all the pieces. They put in so much love into the pieces that have a lifetime of at least ten years. I’m a nerd of Interior so this is just something to add to that nerdiness.

This past week have been intense, the Friday before we did some inventory at the storage of Shyness Interior, this to know what to bring to the fair, “Days of Trade” in Malmö. We also prepared some giftbag material for the visitors at the fair. The week started off with some regular work, then we packed the car and drove to Malmö, my birth town!
The perks of going home were to get some time with my family before the fair started the next day. We got up before sunshine and packed in all the material into the building of the fair, an old industrial building, it was the perfect placement of a fair that was supposed to be more comfortable and more intimate than all the other interior fairs in Sweden, actually a new concept that were tested for the first time in cooperation with the event and relationship building company Trade Partners Sweden.

Puh, the part of preparing isn’t as easy as one may think, it was like doing a cardio session, so I can say I wore the wrong set of clothes, a suit.. haha, but I did at least look polished.
It was so amazing to meet all these different people and entrepreneurs, that were presenting their products and concepts, so much to learn and so much to talk about. The industry of interior and especially with textile products are mostly run by women, in comparison to other businesses, this makes it even more inspiring, to hear how they as women have been able to create their own brands and be out there working hard to also inspiring others to follow their example. The fair also had two seminars with two women that had created their own success in the business world. One with her own fashion store in the middle of nowhere, attracting people to travel just to see her store and one Influencer from the interior world. I got to speak to both of them, to get some important keys to how to think, if one would start my own business in the future. But one part that almost everyone at the fair and the two people on the seminars agreed upon, was that they had a life crises in some way, with everything from becoming a mum/parent and have the time of evaluating what is most important in life, or having a divorce or quitting a job they were not comfortable with or losing a job. This may be something that creates the strength to see past ones' fears, and actually fulfil the big dream in life, when one door closes a new door opens!

After two days at the fair with inspiring conversations and amazing food and AW, we drove back to Gothenburg and Borås. Just the following day we went to a CSR meeting in Gothenburg, with Textilimportörerna (Textile Importers), an organ that helps Swedish companies in different matters within the industry. It was interesting to hear about all the important aspects within the industry especially when this is the mission of my internship at Shyness, and with my perspective from school and theirs from years in the industry, it was interesting to discuss and share thoughts.

Puh, what a week, but there will be more of this coming, I wish you all good luck with your internships and field studies, see you soon!
