A blog from the University of Borås

Blog post #1 - Hello from Berlin!

One month is over, three to go and I totally agree - time flies!

It was a month full of new impressions, new people and Berlin’s everyday life. But to be honest, there is no everyday life, which makes it very exciting. Merz b. Schwanen produces clothing with a modern and authentic twist for men and women. One collection is completely made in Germany on authentic old loopwheelers.
Being an intern at Merz b. Schwanen combines pretty much everything and so am I getting confirmed in my choices of my University programs again and again. Me, as a marketing intern, I am responsible for the communication towards the B2B customers. Therefore, the communication bundles the voices of the production and the headquarter - catches the interest of the B2B customer, who is responsible for the voice of the end-consumer (B2C) - pretty much everything. My understanding of marketing already changed: yes, it is about selling. But another big part of marketing is for example being the connection between the production and customer service much more.
A daily meeting serves as exchange, which makes the whole company much transparent and lets the team grow together. A positive and open mind is definitely influencing the working atmosphere. There is barely a single process where only one employee is involved. Therefore, we talk a lot and also laugh a lot. Going to work is sometimes quite exhausting. But going to work is also fun. I am happy to get the chance to learn more about the fashion industry as well as about me!
My outcome of the month:
#1: Communication is everything!
#2: Ask everyone and ask a lot!
#3: Berlin is AMAZING!
Fingers crossed for your upcoming weeks!!
